my beloved IE

20 02 09 - 20:42 Well, today I uploaded a lot of stuff which took a long time to create, so I was pretty satified when finally all stuff was on the server. But then my girlfriend came in and asked the question of the questions - "Have you checked the site with the IE?". I answered: "No, But what can go wrong?". Well, if you have ever heard something of Murphy’s Law you know that this question was a quite stupid one. The first problem was to find the IE on my computer, because when I switched to Firefox l removed all links to the IE. Finally "Execute->iexplore" was quite helpful. When the IE opened, I was still (naive as I am) expecting a nice site, as saw the dilemma. The godfather of all browsers presented a nicely ordered collection of rubbish. So I started checking my CSS. Well, this was three hours ago. Finding the mayor problem was easy. The IE (version 6 and less) does not support the position:fixed style-sheet. To convince the IE to show a fixed footer anyway took much longer. Finally I manged it, but because I am not a css expert it was a hard fight. But at least now I know what the "star hack" is...

I don‘t agree that “The godfather of all browsers” is the IE or would you like to say that you have tested Mosaic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_World_Wide_Web#Early_Browsers)?

haha. I meant godfather not grandfather ;). And I meant it in a more Al Pacino/Marlon Brando-mafia-like way. But to calm you I also tested mftech.org with the 10th anniversary version of Mosaic. Here is the result (www.mftech.org/stuff/mfTech_mosaic.png). At least there was something shown. With all other sites the Mosaic chrashed. So it seems to be a bitter pill but neither mftech.org nor the Dawn-Server will suport the mosaic. Qué lástima. :D
